Hey guys, I just had my back bumper fixed. It's sanded repainted and clear quoted. Now I just want to know how long should I wait before I can wax and polish it. The body shop guy told me to wait a week before I go through a cas wash, which I don't. He said that I could wash by had. But told me to wait at least a month before I can was the bumper. Does it sound reasonable? I don't know about waiting a month.

I don't understand sam?
"The body shop guy told me to wait a week before I go through a cas wash"..."But told me to wait at least a month before I can was the bumper"...what are you supposed to do, cover your bumper in a week when you go through the car wash?
Regardless, the bodyshop guy would no better then the vast majority of the peeps in this club I would imagine. It sounds to me like he didn't (what they call) "bake" the paint job? If I can remember correctly if you use some sort of "infa-red bake" procedure, you can pretty much wash & polish as soon as you are done?
Anywho, double check with the body man...or maybe Ed's autobody hook-up can give you some pointers, but I am sure he would have to know EXACTLY what has been done to give you proper advice!

Hey Sameer,
Where did you get the work done? My neighbour scratched my bumper the other day and is willing to pay for the repairs.
Thanks,
Harrison

If your paint was baked you can wash by hand after a week but you can't polish or wax for 3-4weeks.
The problem is after a week of no washing your nice new paint has a thin layer of dust on it so when you wash it, it will leave tiny scratchs in the clear coat. I recommend you polish it after 4 weeks as well as wax it so you take all the tiny scratchs out.
