Maybe it's just my electric personality http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif but does anyone else get shocks every time they get out of their car and close the door?
Although it was kind of fun and erotic for the first couple of months, I'm starting to worry that people are noticing my strange happy faces everytime I close the door. Oh,....and then there's the fact that I'm tired of getting shocked all the time!!!
Am I the only one? Is there a secret way to close the door without getting 1000 Volts of electrostatic energy jolted through your body?

LOL...yeah, get one of those rubber shock strips that hang from your undercarriage and ground your car.
OR, touch rubber instead of metal when closing your door.
I find that after getting the shock, if I moan like the Herbal Essences comercial REALLY loud, it wont happen again. Try right now! Trus me... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif

thanks for the tip. I'll try the moaning thing at work tomorrow morning. For now I'm going to practice while closing my drawers throughout the house.
I was thinking of getting some old school 70's platform shoes with 3 inch rubber soles. Not only would I be the shit,...but maybe I could solve the shock thing.
Ok,..fine,..I have to admit,...I just want to buy the shoes to complete my pimp outfit. I don't really expect them to help.
OH YEAHHHHHHHH! Sorry,...just closed the drawer.

Yes! Both my P5s did/do it. In fact, when I got out a few hours ago, I could see AND hear the SNAP! I try to be careful as it's highly annoying. I do try to touch the weatherstripping as a ground.
And speaking of annoying, that Herbal Essences commercial is the big A. I do like the one however of the two women watching as the third gets "the works" from the guys. "Work it, work it!". That one's cool. Especially since it's the hot-blooded redhead Phyllis from the "Young and the Restless".

I find the best thing to do to combat the nasty shock it to wait until your passenger gets shocked before you get out of the car.
Works every time! http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The whole "waiting till your passenger gets out" doesn't work WHATSOEVER for me. i could have 3 people get out of the car first, and I would STILL be zapped something fierce. Sometimes I see sparks, and normally I'd like that, but this spark doesn't give me that same whimper. Now I just close my door with my finger on the window. But sometimes my arm would brush the side of the car as I'm getting out (those damn puffy winter jackets) and my whole arm gets fried....
big reason why I don't wear anything fleecy...holy shock city.

Yah, now that I'm wearing a heavier jacket the shock therapy has returned.
The static charge is generated as you are sliding out of the seat. If you maintain contact with the car as you are sliding out of the seat, the static charge is painlessly dissipated to the car. Try this - as you are getting out of the car, touch the bare metal of the door latch post (or some other unpainted metal surface) with your bare hand (maybe check for grease first). Maintain that contact as you slide out of the seat. No static charge, no zap! It ain't graceful, but it works. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Yea I get shocks too. They don't bother me one bit, I guess I'm just bionic or something. Well I AM a machine but that's totally off topic...... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
I remember my old protege S had little pads beside the door locks you could touch before you got out and it would supposedly ground you to the car without the nasty zap happening.

Just 15 mins ago, I've got a big shock!!
The light in the garage for some reason didn't work, so it's plain dark inside. When I close the door, I could clearly see FIVE sparks coming from the tip of all FIVE fingers... It's so hurt... I could almost smell toasting... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Not only do I get shocked, I tend to shock people at the weirdest times too!
But really though I tend to stun people. But I expected that...cause like many bastards on this board I really think I'm Stunning! http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Group buy for grounding strips?!
November meet at Walmart to pick up $10 grounding strips?!
I gotta pick one up too cause I'm tired of my car shocking me.
Please if you buy a grounding strip make sure you don't mount it where it is clearly visable - you'll look like a family man driving a station wagon! LOL
But seriously - they are $10 at Wal-Mart. All of the mods on my car are from Wal-Mart.

I used to get shocked all the time until I got my seat covers, so now there is no more friction, no more shocks.

those shocks hurt like a biatch... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif ...unbelieveable the amount of static electricity this car produces.......if you don't want to get those strips, my dad uses this spray thing that seems to neutralize the static electricity build up in his car.....think he sprays like once a month.......seems to work......used to be the same pain in his corolla until he got that spray thing........might try that out.......

Did NOT work.
So any other ideas?
