Going to visit my grandparents for 2-3 days in Detroit M.I. USA in mid november maybe.

Yes!, I have to admit that it is like vacationing in Somalia's Bakara Market(Black Hawk Down), Beirut, or the Gaza Strip.

Down there it is GM, FORD, CHRYSLER country with big V6's and V8's. It is also SUV Escalade, Danali, Yukon, MOntero, Expedition country too. My P5 will be getting some looks. Nonetheless, I have purchased wheel locks and riced up my vehicle so it looks like more of a joke to them. Plus I don't think that many of the Boosters drive 5spd down there. I hope.

This is a damned long shot but I am hoping to see something special for P5's or Proteges in a performance shop for cheap, even with the exchange rate.

Anyone know of any national automotive chains or shops in general. Pep Boys etc. Or do I have to drive through the surburban ghetto to find ghetto deals. I know import stuff comes from Cali mostly, but I hope Detroit would have something for me too amongst the domestic aftermarket.

I'm also doing a record/Cd r&b/hip-hop spree of stuff that is hard to get or not pressed here so I'll be busy. Perhaps I'll get a wing down there too.

Please respond if you have any ideas of where I must check.

Watch out on your way back through the border .. there are special duty rules about modifying your car and bringing it back.

i was planning on getting rims from wheelmax.com and sending them to my gf's cousin's house in michigan. then gonna go there to pick em up and install them.

the prices are very good on the wheelmax.com site and the same packages here would be at least $600-700 more! i can save alot by doing this.

so what kind of special duties....?

I just remember reading in the little duty pamphlet over the summer that there is a separate reference to car modifications. But I don't remember exactly ... something like wheels/tires is probably not a big deal, although they do capture your car on camera going across http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Check one of the gov't sites or hand-outs for info I suppose...

if wheels/tires aren't a big deal... then what would be?

Well, it could be ... I think it's just in place to stop exactly what you're planning on doing http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif .. and everyone else who ships parts through the US and then picks them up without giving the Canadian gov't "their due" bah.

Whatever I have installed if any, will have dirt and a weather beaten look, like it was there forever.

I won't go for rims or tires, but sneak back some drop springs, tachometer, somthing small and ricey maybe.

As a brother man I always get pulled for inspection, and their minds will be more on the drugs for me. I am the narcotic billing transportaton clerk at work though http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
