I was transporting some rims the other day, so I took out my dual bandpass subs. I really noticed the difference in muffler sound, weight difference in handling and defrosting and warming capabilities overall in the car.

It got me thinking though in a ghetto way, What CHEAP insulation materials would I use to just to tack it to the hatch lid cover underneath.

Cooter said to use pink fluffy insulation as long as it was the Pink Panther brand. Leroy said bubble wrap. Earl said a sheet of flat rubber, Jimmy said the cardboard with the sandwiched corrugated part in the middle. Fitzroy said I should use an old baby blanket. Rosenthalbaum said spraypainted upholstry foam in my desired thickness. 7th disciple monk said that I should fill the whole entire trunk with a big block of foam and just cut out compartments in which I use. NOte that I don't haul anything in my trunk, cause it's not considered a functional wagon and I bought if for style.

....And then Giancanna said wait! Let's see what your fellow TPC Bastards would recommend. The empahsis was cheap. The idea would be to trace the back lid with provisions for proper fitment. Remember Cheap is the functioning word. http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

what's the purpose of the insulation? i can only see the insulation for noise. then i would suggest using dynamat or brown bread. these are expensive options though. but honestly, they are the best ones.

I may feel a wee bit dumb now, but Cooter asked if you mean the food? Why not Texas cut bread? Would it not rot and get stinky?

I'm not quite understanding what you want to insulate...sound or air temp?

How bout sound and air temperature? Especially the air temp I guess.

Wear two jackets.
Or put the hoodie up.
And throw the du-rag on.

There that bastard goes again this time. Always ethnically profiling me. Sort of reminds me of King of Kensington when he met George Jefferson.

Wire up one of those electric heater/cooler things and dynamat it and the bottom of the package tray.

Would that thing make screechy noises though?
I'm gonna try a soft layer of foam and two way velcro stick it to my panel. All will be Dollar Store Materials. The Foam will be Ironing Board underpadding perhaps.

if you fasten the rigid foam securely, then what will it make noise against? If it's not rubbing against anything, then it shouldn't make noise.

then theres upholstery foam, the crap they put in shitty couches and chairs...

of you could buy acoustic diffusers, but not sure if that will assist much with air temp... but it would look cool (or since this is GCPT, perhaps the old skool egg carton stuff that everyone used as sound diffusers back in the day... )

of course it prolly wont work too well, but it'd be way cool to see.

or, maybe kidnap a fat bastard and just stick him in the trunk... but that would really hurt performance

mabye a bunch of pizza pops?? angel food cake?? salt water taffee??

think i'm gonna go get some food...
